Les Garrigues are back in rehearsals

The Les Garrigues choir will resume its weekly rehearsals on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the wine cellar of the Saint-Bauzille-de-Montmel estate.

In accordance with current guidelines, we have developed a protocol to ensure everyone’s health and safety.

We will rehearse in small groups outdoors whenever the weather permits and will wear masks when indoors, while maintaining physical distancing at all times.

Our work will focus on learning new songs “sotto voce,” with melodic and rhythmic exercises based on active listening and the singers’ independence. We’ll start the year with, among other pieces, Pachelbel’s Magnificat, a piece from the Russian Orthodox liturgy, as well as lighter pieces such as “La banane”...

As soon as health conditions allow, we will continue working on the repertoire we acquired last year: Caccini’s “Ave Maria” (Vassilov), “Ameno,” “La Sobirana” (traditional Occitan), and Cherubini’s Requiem. For some of these works, the choir will be accompanied by the Vitapassion string ensemble, with whom we will continue our collaboration for this new season.

Vocal technique training led by Guy Bonnet, the choir director, will also resume as soon as possible.

We warmly welcome any new choir members—whether beginners or those with prior experience in polyphonic singing—who wish to hone their skills in a friendly group offering a varied repertoire and numerous concerts and exchanges with other choirs in the region and abroad.
